In the cosmopolitan area of Kolonaki, right next to the outdoor cinema of Dexameni, there is a historical place full of inspiration that spreads on both sides of the main, big pedestrian street, with its chairs and tables lined up in a row.
This is the oyzeri (ouzo-cafe) “Dexameni”, known as the first cafe in Athens, where poets like Varnalis and Elytis and many other Greek intellectuals had a habit of drinking their coffee.Sitting at the ordinary tables you will find everyone: From grandparents reading their newspaper while enjoying a stodgy dessert, to children taking a break for an orange juice from their street football in the main square, to businessmen having casual business appointments, hipsters and students enjoying ouzo and delicious Greek snacks.
